Scott's Obituary from the Minneapolis Star Tribune reads:

Scott William Vollink, age 22 of Minnetonka, went to meet his Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Pullman, WA. Preceded in death by grandmother, Thelma Vollink; and grandparents, Carroll and Thelma Hauser. Survived by beloved sister, Leah; parents, Bill & Kathy Vollink; grandparents, James & Eileen Vollink; aunts & uncles, Fred & Elaine Palmer, Wayne & Grace Hauser, Ellis & Gloria Hauser, Richard & Barbara Marks, Gerald & Dorothy Hauser, Robert & Jane Madsen, Lee & Ronda Irvine, Jim & Sheryl Irvine, and Kim & Lois Heckert; many, many cousins and friends. Scott was attending Washington State University, studying international business and finance. He realized many of his goals, traveling twice to Europe, Hawaii, Panama, Mexico and Canada. Scott loved to hike the mountains and be in the wide open spaces. Scott also loved being with family and friends. He had a quiet compassion for the underprivileged and animals. Scott was a member of the National Honor Society at Hopkins High and WSU. He played J.O. volleyball in MN and was a 2-year member of the WSU Men's Volleyball Club where he assisted with scorekeeping. He also loved to watch sports and had an extreme interest in European architecture and a great talent for photography. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Thank you for posting your goodbye to Scott. I am one of Scott's 14 first cousins who mourn for him, his parents and sister. This event has cratered our family and many friends. He was greatly loved and we will miss him terribly. He has always been very special to all of us. Thank you for sharing our grief.

Tom-
Thank you for the wonderful memorial website that you have up for Scott. He was a wonderful brother, son, relative and friend to all. He loved everyone, and will be missed by many people. We are planning a memorial for Scott on September 10th in Seattle, WA. Just for anyone who would be able to come.
We miss and love you, Scotty! Love, Leah :)

I am very sorry to here about the loss in your family. I did not know Scott, but I do feel like I have lost a relative. Again I am sorry for your loss and may the memories last a lifetime.

I had the privilege to have a number of classes with Scott while we both attended WSU. I can remember one occasion when my presentation crashed & he had a backup disk that saved me from failing my presentation. He was a genuine, kind, & giving person and will truly be missed. Please let me know when & if there will be a memorial in Seattle as I would love to attend. My thoughts are with you :) - Liz

I would just like to say that it was an outstanding thing for you to post this on your website about Scott. I am one of the many cousins Scott had. I really never had the opportunity to spend time with him, but always heard the great stories from my great uncle (his grandfather) Jim. My thoughts and prayers still go out to the family.
