Visiting the Happiest Place on Earth

So Sunday was a long travel day for me with getting up early and then heading to the Disneyland Resort right from the airport. It was nice to be back at Disneyland even if it was for only one day. I met up with some people I work with and met a few really awesome people in Guest Relations out there. I was lucky to be able to get all all of the attractions I was hoping to and even got to enjoy the amazing World of Color at Disney California Adventure. Top the visit off with an upgrade at the hotel, it couldn’t have been better. Pictures to be posted when I have better service.

Time for Another Adventure

Hello again everyone, it’s that time again where I am in the process of getting checked in for my flight and laying out the clothes and suitcases and preparing for my next adventure. This experience has me flying to Los Angeles, CA where I will spend one day in Anaheim at the Disneyland® Resort, which I haven’t back to since 2009, before heading to San Pedro to board the beautiful Disney Wonder for the first time since 2010. I will be taking her from Los Angeles, CA to Vancouver, Canada on what should be an amazing 7-night voyage up the Pacific coast with stops at some amazing ports.

For those that are interested, our ship can be tracked by visiting Marine Traffic. I have also included the itinerary for my trip below. I will be posting on Twitter (@websteth) as long as I have as I have mobile service and I will also try to post updates here when I have internet access and if time allows. Photos from the trip will be posted shortly upon my return to Florida.

Relaxing Weekend

So, I’m still getting used to having Saturday and Sunday off after being off different days for so many years. So far, I am really enjoying my new role and am really going to like where this will bring me in my career. Today I’ve been pretty productive and have gone to the bank, the YMCA Aquatic Center and Publix before coming home and cleaning the house. Just taking a break now and then meeting up with some friends later tonight.

I also wanted to share something cool I picked up the other night at The Art of Disney. I had read about these great new items coming out for Disneyland’s 55th Birthday but, I never would have believed that they would show up here in Florida. The first thing I got was the ceramic version of the original paper cups used at Disneyland and the second is a tea cup modeled after the originals in the Mad Tea Party ride. I just htink these are cool and worth checking out. Anyways, that’s all I have for now. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Best Vacation, Ever

Well, it’s been about two weeks since I came back from probably one of the best vacations I have taken in a long time.  I had the unique experience of enjoying the 100th anniversary of Camp Lincoln for Boys in Lake Hubert, MN. It was like taking a trip back and reliving the summers I had as a kid along the shores of Lake Hubert. For those that don’t know, Camp Lincoln is where I spent the summers from 1991 – 1999 as a camper and CIT. At camp I learned to love meeting new people from around the world and fostered a love for sailing. Camp is also one of the reasons why I am here now in Florida and at Walt Disney World. Through the connections I had at camp, I learned about a small school in St. Petersburg, FL called Eckerd College. Thanks to Eckerd, I met some good friends who helped me get a role here at Disney. Camp is also important to my family as it is where Mom and Dad met. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Camp Reunion was a great time reliving old memories and reminiscing with old friends along with meeting many new ones. Justin, Mandy, Sarah and Courtney, thanks for a great time and Mandy, it was great to be out on the water again together. It was also fun to just relive the experience of being at Camp and living in Eagles cabin again after 14 years and singing some of the best songs I remember from the summers growing up! The 100th Dinner was amazing too with great music and a great message from Governer Tim Pawlenty. Thanks again to everyone who made the weekend a blast and to those at Camp that planned such a great event. I hope that I can return to Camp again soon and do another Alumni weekend or summer again soon! Check out below for my pictures from the weekend.

Back in the real world, things are slow around the office these days and I am just doing my thing to keep busy. More vacation coming this weekend when Dad and I will be going to Anaheim and visiting Disneyland . I haven’t been since 2006 but this will be Dad’s first time. I’m sure it will be a great weekend and as an added bonus, I will get to meet up with my friend Julien from Disneyland Paris as well. Look for more updates soon.

Back to Reality

Ok, I am officially back in reality (OK, Disney Reality) here in Orlando. I am still recovering from my week long trip to California which included Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, Newport Beach and Hollywood. It is hard to be back after such a great week with friends and family. I want to say a big thank you out to my Aunt’s Parents, Carol and Ed for opening up their home for my friends and myself to enjoy the lovely Newport Beach for a day. Carol and Ed, the group greatly enjoyed the day at the beach and we want to let you know how much fun it was for you to join us for dinner in New Orleans Square.

Perfect weather the entire trip with no rain and not too cold evenings/days. I love Disneyland and the history behind the park itself and having gotten a special opportunity to ride in Walt’s train, the EP Ripley, I have a new appreciation of the Disney Heritage that I help cary on every day at the Magic Kingdom.

I don’t know what it is but, I just love California. The weather is perfect and there is no humidity like Florida. I could see myself living out there someday. Just need a job with Corporate first. This trip was different compared to last years because I got a chance to drive around a bit and get away from the world of fantasy and see what the town was like. Don’t worry, no big decision have been made to leave Florida anytime soon but, I am keeping my options open. I have a lot of exciting things in the works for my career here in Orlando to keep me busy for at least a few years.

Well, that’s all I have for now. Time to get some much needed sleep after a busy first week back from the Happiest Place on Earth.

Somewhere over Texas

Ok, so I an bored out of my mind on the plane right now. The little screen in the seat shows that we are at 38,004 feet and just passing over Austin, TX and my iPod continues to keep me somewhat entertained so, I’ll take this time to right more for my blog on my BlackBerry to be posted when I turn on the radio in LA.

More on the trip. I am heading to Disneyland with four other friends from Disney, my best friend Joe and his friend Ryan and then two of Joe’s co-workers from Epcot Attractions, Brian and Jeff. We are all workaholics in need for a vacation considering that my last real vacation was Disneyland last year.

We are going to be in Southern California for a week, leaving next Monday evening getting back Tuesday Morning. We have more than just Disneyland planned. We are planning to head to Knott’s Berry Farm for their Halloween party thing and spend a day in Los Angles to see the city with a stop in Burbank to visit The Walt Disney Studios. Also in the plans is a trip to the beach to visit my Aunt Susan’s parents in Newport Beach. As you can see, we are maximizing our vacation.

In other news, it is nice to be back at the Magic Kingdom. I am actually back to working a lot, just finished 60 hours last week. Until my status coordinator paperwork goes through, I am doing a mix of relief coordinator and training shifts when means more money for Tom to save.

Well, back to the in-flight entertainment.

This message was sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld. This message and any reply may be short and may even include some words that are not spelled properly.
