Goodbye Scott

ScottVollink.jpg
Scott William Vollink
October 14, 1981 to July 10, 2004

Scott, you became one of my closest friends over the past summer. I just can’t believe that you are gone. I was hoping to come visit you this coming year while you were at school. I guess that wont be happening now. You are now in good hands with the Lord. I’ll miss you.

Scott, I know you are gone but, I also know that you will always be with me and others in our hearts and memories. I think the below song from the Lion King Musical will always remind me that your passion and memory will always live on.

He Lives in You (Reprise)
The Lion King [Original Broadway Cast]

Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala

Night and the spirit of life calling mamela
And a voice just the fear of a child answers mamela

Ubu khosi bo khokho [This is the throne of our ancestors]

We ndodana ye sizwe sonke [Oh, son of the nation]

Wait, there’s no mountain too great
Hear the words and have faith
Have faith

He lives in you
He lives in me

He watches over
Everything we see
Into the water
Into the truth
In your reflection
He lives in you

He lives in you
He lives in me
He watches over
Everything we see
Into the water
Into the truth
In your reflection
He lives in you

He lives in you
He lives in you
He lives in you
He lives in you

He lives in you
He lives in me

He watches over
Everything we see
Into the water
Into the truth
In your reflection
He lives in you

He lives in you
He lives in me
He watches over
Everything we see
Into the water
Into the truth
In your reflection
He lives in you

Goodbye Buddy

Buddy

October 1992 – July 15, 2004

Buddy recently was diagnosed with cancer in his chest and this morning, Mom and Dad made the decision that it was time. Dad said that Buddy knew it was time as well. Goodbye Buddy. I know you lived a full life and I know you will be missed. I’m sorry you had to get cancer before I could come home and say goodbye. I’ll miss you as I know Mom, Dad, Tim, Camper and the rest of the family will.

WDW CP Courses Decision

Well, the time is slowly ticking down until graduation and my adventure at Walt Disney World begins. Part of my internship at WDW includes acess to classes that major organizations can send their people to for training. I can take up to a total of four of these classes during my internship but I think I may just balance it out and do one in the summer and one in the fall. I mean I will have just graduated college! So here are the two classes I think I am going to take. Please feel free to comment on what you think. You can visit the course descriptions and more information on the program by visiting the Walt Disney World College Program.

The courses I am looking at are:
Disney Human Resource Management Course
The Human Resource Course is designed to familiarize students with the current human resource practices and related laws. Students will explore the human resource function in a corporate setting, specifically focusing on the development of knowledge and skills that corporate managers need. Areas of study include interviewing, employment law, labor relations, compensation, performance appraisal, training and maintaining effective environments.

Disney Organizational Leadership Course
Knowledge of leadership theory and how to apply it is critical for today’s leaders. Participants of this course will examine and apply the classical models of leadership in preparation of their application in today’s corporate environment. Throughout the course, you will examine various aspects of leadership and reexamine the results of your own leadership style.

Dream it. Do It. Disney.

Well today is a magical day at Eckerd College. I got my official acceptance letter to the WDW College Program. I have been cast as a Merchandise Host. I will not know my exact location until I arrive at my traditions class upon arrival to WDW. My arrival date will be 24 May, 2004. Just a mere 2 day after graduation on 22 May. Two big events in a short time. Man I am going to love it. I will be working at WDW until at least 03 January, 2005 unless I extend of become full time at that point. Also, while on the college program, I will be able to take the Disney classes in customer service, communications, and other key areas of the Disney culture. These are the same classes that major companies send their staff to for thousands of dollars and I get to do it for FREE. It’s going to be a great learning experience I am sure. Dream it. Do it. Disney.
