Hail to the Chief

Today was an interesting trip home after work. First, I ended up getting extended by 20 minutes so I could take the train around again. There was a scheduling goof so there was a gap in coverage, oh well, over time for me 🙂 I finally get clocked out after my long day and head to the tunnel to change. I get changed and get my new costumes from my locker and head for the bus to WestClock.

For those that were not aware, President Bush was speaking at the Contemporary Resort tonight for a fundraiser and all roads in and out of the Magic Kingdom were restricted access. Now, I am supposed to meet my friend Amber over at Downtown Disney for dinner and I’m thinking well, it’s early enough and I can head Floridian Way (towards Grand Floridian behind Splash Mountain) instead of the usual way. I approach the intersection and the security guard directs me over towards the Contemporary to go. So I listen and turn only to be stopped by Space Mountain by the Secret Service and the Police only to be told to turn around. Fine with me, I don’t mind going the other way.

Finally get going on Floridian Way and am on my way over World Drive towards Epcot when low and behold, the Presidential Motorcade comes passing right by me. Lot’s of motorcycle cops and the limo. Just cool to see really. Only them on the road with no one else around. I feel bad for those guests that are either at the Contemporary or the Magic Kingdom car park as none of them were able to access the roads or their cars till after the President left.

Where Am I?

Ok, I know I live in Florida and it can get rather hot in the summer but I am beginning to wonder where I live now since it is only 42ºF out side right now and has been in the 40’s all day. I’ve had my P-Coat, Suit Coat, Dress Waist Coat, a Dress Shirt, and an undershirt on all day and I was still freezing my rear off. Now I know I can’t complain since those of you in the North East are getting walloped with snow right now but this is Florida not the North! Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder. Time to break out the turtleneck and hand-warmers.

BlackBerry Humor

So for those that don’t know it, I am addicted to my BlackBerry (READ: CrackBerry). What some of you may also not be aware of is that there is a possibility due to a pending lawsuit that the BlackBerry Service in the United States will be shutdown. The below cartoon is from The Onion but I thought it was worth sharing.

High School Musical

So I was flipping through the channels the other night on TV and found an interesting TV Movie on the Disney Channel. It’s called High School Musical. High School Musical is your basic family movie but, what appealed to me about it is that it is more of a musical genre. I guess it may just be me but I grew up on these type of films, The Music Man, White Christmas, etc. The songs are catchy and the story actually a great story line. The songs also have the broadway feel and I have thoughts of Hairspray, RENT, Wicked, and Mamma Mia! flowing through my mind. If you have the Disney Channel, check it out.

Disney High

So I got this from a friend who also works at Disney. It’s a list of what the different social groups would be like if they were in a high school setting. Some of my readers may have to remember back longer than others but for anyone that works at Disney, it is amazing how true this little bit of humor is.

**Welcome to Disney High**

Characters/Parade
Cheerleaders/Football players. They work about 2 hours a day and walk around doing whatever they want the rest of the time.

Attractions
The popular kids. Everyone knows them and sadly wants to be like them or at least transfer to their area.

Merchandise
We’re cool, but non-chalantly cool. Everyone knows us, but we don’t brag about our popularity.

Outdoor Foods
The rebel kids. They’re always out of class/outside in their cool sunglasses and hats.

Custodial
You say hi to them in class but never acknowledge their existence in the halls or backstage. Although some of them are super hot.

Guest Relations
Snobs.

Third-Shift Custodial
They’re just plain creepy.

Don’t you hate SPAM?

So I recently changed my e-mail address due to the influx of SPAM coming in. So I thought I would keep the address live and forward it to my GMAIL account just to see and to filter out any missed address changes messages. Well folks, on average, it appears that I was getting 60+ SPAM messages a day. Wow, what a pain!

Rent the Movie?

Well, it looks like on November 11, one of my favorite musicals, Rent, will be coming to the big screen. Rent-The Movie looks like a great movie and appears to hold true to the original. I can’t wait!

Come On

Well, I finally found it. The song I have been looking for after I first say the trailer for Finding Neverland. The song is called Come On – Instrumental by Ben Jelen. The song is not in the movie at all but it sticks in your head when you see the trailer. The highlight of the trailer has the main part of the song when the camera swoops up over the stage and you see the world of Neverland come alive. Finally I found it.

SUPER LONG Day

I have just gotten home from one of the worst days of the month. My shift started off just fine but, I had several really heavy runs. Like, I’m not talking about weight. I am talking about two or three huge bins worth of packages (READ: 80-100+ items). I can handle that though and even got us caught up on logging while I was at it. The trouble started with some massive rain storms that delayed the runs and then towards the end of the night and my turn at Package Pickup, it was nothing but problems. Package after package was either missing, not picked up, or was missing items. I have never offered so much free popcorn, soda or Comp Shipping. Then, to top it off, when my line gets out the door, my fellow cast members decide it is funny not to come and help me. It wasn’t until they were done joking around that they realized I was serious about needing a hand when they could hear the people yelling at me over package issues. I tell you, it amazes me over some of the people that I work with. GUESTS come first people, NOT your afterwork plans. Oh well, it is over and I am now off for a day.

I am off to bed but I do have a nice day planned of getting things done around home like cleaning and laundry and then meeting up with some friends when they get out of work later in the day. I can’t wait. It will be a blast tomorrow. Sorry for the negative post. I hate doing it but I needed to vent. Sorry to all those that keep wondering where I am. I am working or in meetings. That’s the best I can say really. I use my days off to get stuff done for my career or around the house. Catch you all in the next update.
