Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009

Well, it is officially 2009. Things have been pretty busy the last few months with work and life in general. I spent a wonderful holiday week in Minnesota for Christmas and I couldn’t have been happier to get back to the cold and have a week off! Work has been extremely busy even with the economy the way it is. My area is getting many new and exciting projects that keep coming down the pipe that will keep us busy.

As I sit and reflect back on 2008, I can honestly say that it has been a great year despite a few disappointments in the career department. I celebrate my one year anniversary in my condo. I have worked hard to make my condo mine and I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with how it has turned out. Here’s to many more great years in my condo.

So what will 2009 bring? I can’t really say but, I am looking forward to it. I have several fun and exciting things coming up in the next few weeks that I am looking forward to. Happy new year everyone!

Making Things Me

So it is finally September and fall appears to be here as I was so reminded at my morning Starbucks run when they changed their menu to add the “fall” drinks on the menu like the Pumpkin Spice and Carmel Apple Spice.  September is also my one year mark with Walt Disney World® Ticketing. Work has been busy for me as I have been working with several projects that involve not just Walt Disney World® Resort but also Disneyland® Resort. This has been a nice change for me and gives me a chance to expand my network to another state and business unit in the company.

Today is finally a day off with no real plans. The last two weeks I had several meet and greets set-up with various leaders in the Transportation Line of Business about possible leadership opportunities there for the future. I guess one can say I am keeping my options open. As for the day off, with Hanna around off the coast, it is a nice rainy, windy and cloudy day. Only thing really on the docket is going to Epcot® to pick up my music for Candlelight which starts rehearsal next week. Yes, Christmas in September.

Home is going well too. I have finally gotten to the point where I am officially making my condo mine. After a year here, I am finally getting pictures hung on the wall and personalizing things more and making the place mine. I even had my first dinner party with friends the other night with Luke and Casey coming over. Though, getting settled in aside, this is the first year that I have been here with several major storms coming our way. Fay and Hanna seem to be non-issues here but, Ike is still coming this way. I guess there is a good reason to be living inland instead of on the coast.

Looking forward to October as well. Dad will be coming down in the first week and I am also looking at a long weekend to Naples and a weekend at Eckerd again. Till then though, I’m heading back to the morning coffee and The West Wing on Bravo.

One Year Ago…

Well, it has hit the official one year mark for me being a home owner. It was one year ago today that Dad, Katie (my Realtor) and myself sat through two days worth of waiting to close on my condo. I moved in to my new condo this weekend a year ago and I still could not be happier. I finally feel all settled in and am just enjoying what I have. No longer am I worrying each month if my rent will go up or if the place I am living will be going condo. Over the last year I have learned a lot of about living. I now see myself watching everything I spend money on and ask, do I really need to do this or buy that. Every time I walk in the front door, I still think, “this is mine.” Really, I truly am lucky to have such a great home and community. I have been utilizing the gym in my complex and have worked hard to loose those few extra pounds. Sure beats going to an extra gym. Anyways, I’m off to go clean house and finish some laundry. Here’s to what I hope is a good number more years in my great condo.

A day around the house and a new dresser!

Well, today I enjoyed a much needed day to just relax around the house. The last several weeks have been pretty busy with travel, work and friends. Since my friend Adam moved back in to a place in Chatham Square (Disney CP Housing), I have gained most of my condo back and took the day to straighten things up.

Last week, I even had a chance to finally get that new dresser I have been eying for a while that goes with my bed and night stand. Unfortunately, IKEA doesn’t make it in the color I have the other pieces in anymore but I got a color that seems to fit in really well. Thank you to Aunt Nancy, Uncle Peter, Chris, and Hannah along with Adam who helped provide the IKEA gift cards that helped me purchase it. as you can see below, it fits perfectly in my room and gives me some much needed extra drawers to store my cloths in. Thank you as well to my friend Steven who helped me assemble it as well.

My New IKEA Dresser

Not much else new to report. Just enjoying my condo and doing my thing.

Life Update

Well, it’s been almost a month since I have moved in to my new place and I couldn’t be happier. Everything is finally all together as far as furniture goes and I am almost done unpacking the remaining boxes. I have been doing a lot more cooking now that I have a nice size kitchen and overall, I am enjoying just relaxing and hanging around my new place. I’ve even hosted a couple of dinner parties with some friends! Since I moved, I am also saving on my gas for my car and can now go almost two full weeks with out a fill up thanks to moving closer. Something to be said about a 12-minute commute to work.

Speaking of work, work is going just fine. I have elected to work some additional hours each week so I can save a few extra dollars for bills so I am averaging 45-50 hour work weeks these days. I still have my two days off of Friday/Saturday to get things done which is a bonus. Things are going to be picking up a lot in the next few weeks with the Easter Holiday arriving and Spring Break in full swing. Possible new roles on the horizon for me but I don’t want to get in to too much details until they are all finalized.

Well, Joe is on his way over and we are just going to relax at the pool or watch a movie so I’ll update everyone later this week on the new roles then.
