For those that haven’t heard, The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) and Sprint announced on July 6 the creation of the first national U.S. wireless phone service specifically designed for families. The service, called Disney Mobile, will use the Sprint nationwide PCS network and is slated to launch next year.
Disney Mobile plans to offer a comprehensive mobile service, including wireless voice service, exclusive handsets and a package of features and applications tailored to meet the unique communication needs of families. The service will also include a range of entertainment content for the family.
What thought was funny was this cartoon from RCR Wireless News today. Is this really the beginning of total media domination in our lifes?
Well folks. I know this is a little late but, Apple released the latest version of the Mac OS X system on Friday called Tiger. I was off on Friday and was able to make it to the launch event at the Millennia store and pick myself up a copy. Let me just say that Apple is the only computer company where the machines get faster with each update. Unlike that OTHER company, Apple rewrites and streamlines the code with each update. Upgrade installed with a breeze and the new updates are amazing. I love the new mail and Spotlight, the new search just rocks my world although, it does sort of freak me out that it can search inside e-mail, photos, documents and more instead of just file names though. Then again, I have nothing to hide. If you have a Mac, get this upgrade and install it! The new features and the speed make it one heck of an upgrade. So is it just me or does Apple Computer know what they are doing? Yesterday was the Keynote at the Macworld Conference and Mr. Jobs revealed several awesome products. The first two are software related and are iLife ‘05 and iWork ‘05. iLife is just an updated version of the current one I have (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iTunes) but, iWork is a new office application that includes the updated version of Keynote (Apple’s PowerPoint Killer) and a new application called Pages. Pages is an awesome looking word processor and has me looking forward to using it over MS Word any day as I already use Keynote instead of PowerPoint. Now on with the hardware!
Also released yesterday was the Mac mini. Now your PC users have no excuse for not getting a Mac! It is small, powerful and affordable. The machine is $499 for the lowest end model. Just remember to BYODKM (Bring your own Display, Keyboard, and Mouse). It will function with any PC monitor, TV and any USB or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. This just rocks and I can’t wait to see how well it does.
Last but not least, we have the iPod Shuffle. This is a flash based iPod that comes in a 512MB and a 1GB version and will cost $99 and $149 respectively. Now I love my iPod and can’t say enough how much I use it but this is just one cooler product that Apple has that will draw people. The iPod Shuffle has no screen so your music is random but at the same time, it is now larger than a pack of gum! If you don’t have the music to fill the larger iPods, get this one. You’ll love it from what I have seen of it.
Well, I just wanted to share my thoughts on these awesome new products.

Well folks, if you haven’t been using Apple Computer’s iTunes may be you should take another look because it just got better. Today Apple released version 4.5 for both Macintosh and Windows. This new version just blows the old one out of the water. Here are the latest new additions to the features:
- Share Your iMix. Post and email songs in your playlists for everyone to see. Rate iMixes from other music lovers to drive them up or down the charts, and discover new music at the same time.
- Party Shuffle. Be your own DJ with a playlist thats always full of songs. Add, delete and rearrange them on the fly to create the best mix for the moment.
- Print CD Inserts. Create stunning CD jewel case inserts for your album or mix disc using designer templates for both color and black & white printers.
- Discover Music. Find out whats playing on more than 1,000 radio stations around the United States. Get music and audiobooks related to a movie. See a music video, get the track. Download a free song.
- Previews in Playlists and Quick Links. Save store previews to purchase later. Find more music from the artists you love via Quick Links in your library.
And the number one cool new feature is:
- Automatically convert WMA to AAC. Convert the music you saved in Windows Media Player (unprotected WMA files) to AAC format.
So if you aren’t using iTunes yet take a look at it. It’s well worth it! Apple has done it right with this one.
