Happy New Year!

Well, it is now officailly 2005. I had a record for me of a 14.5 hour day yesterday. I started at MouseGear in Epcot and then finished at the Emporium. What made it specialw as joining the entire Emporium cast for a toast in the MO-6 parking lot while watching Fantasy in the Sky. Still, I miss being with family. I am in the process now of packing up my apartment once again as I am moving up soem stuff tomorrow night after work and then the rest on Monday when I officially move in with JK, Norm and Anthony. So back to packing and Happy New Year!

The Crazyness Begins

Well, today marks the start of Christmas week. The crowds are aleady starting to increase and guess waht folks, this aint nothing yet! Can’t mention the numbers in the park but I can say it is a lot. I went in to casting on Friday and filled out my transfer application for full time status so now it is just time to play the waiting game. Until then, work, work and work.

It’s Cold!

Wow is it cold! I am sitting in the warmth of my apartment with the heater turned on and set to 76ºF. Outside, the temperature is hovering around 45ºF before the wind chill is factored in. It is down right cold for Florida. I know my Minnesota roots should have me in shorts but, living in Florida has thinned my blood. Today I enjoyed a nice day off and walked around the parks a bit (Magic Kingdom and Epcot) before heading to the Magic Music Days deck for Candlelight. I sang in all three shows tonight with Eartha Kitt. She was excellent and was prrrrrfect for the part. For those that are wondering who Eartha Kitt is, she is a singer and is also known as Catwomen in the original Batman.

I am off tomorrow as well but will be picking up an extra shift at the Disney MGM Studios in the merchandise location at the Rock N’ Roll Roller Coaster. Only a little over two weeks left and still so much to do. I’ll relax after my shift and visit Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party and then crash for the night before going to Casting on Friday to transfer to Full Time. I can’t wait! Have a magical night!

Holidays Around the World is Here!

Well, I know this is the day later but, last night was my first night performing with the Candlelight Processional at the Epcot Holidays Around the World Celebration. What an amazing experience. I am up there on-stage looking out over an audience of people from all over the world. Last nights narrator was gospel singer Kirk Franklin. It was so much fun! I know that I made the vacation for people in the audience and who heard me sing. Also, knowing that my parents and grandparents were int eh audience too was nice.

Mom and Dad came down for the weekend and both grandparent sets came up from Naples for a nice weekend with me at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. It was a great time. Well, off to bed. Thanks again for a great weekend Mom, Dad and Grandmas and Grandpas.

Black Friday Hits

Well folks, last night at the Magic Kingdom was a zoo. I don’t think I have ever seen so many hangers. The store literally looked like a hurricane had gone through midway through the night. Good news is, we reched our budget and then passed it by a rather large amount. I can’t giveo ut numbers but let us just say it had a lot of zeros behind it. Now, off to work on this lovely Black Friday to all the shopping crowds.

Career Plans

Has it really been almost a week since I posted? Well, I have been busy with work and the two days off that I had this past week I used to catch up on things around the apartment. Last Tuesday though, I went to the My Disney Career workshop/job fair and was able to speak with several of the key people in merchandise as well as Lee Cockerell, the Executive VP for the Walt Disney World Company. I know have a clear idea for what I want with this company and am now working working with several of my managers to clean up my resume and ‘Disneyfy’ it so I can proceed to Leadership Casting Call sometime next year. LCC is the internal path to management positions at the company. Who would have thought I would go for retail but I love what I do here and have no intention on leaving so the only way to go is up from here. I’m on my way out to work for the evening so this will have to be all for now. Look for more updates later this week.

Friends, Connections, and the Future

Well, I know it has been a LONG time since I got time to sit down and make a post to my blog. What can I say, I am back to working 40 hour weeks again. Yay! For those that didn’t know, when October rolls in, they park attendance drops so there isn’t a need to have us work 40 hour weeks and we get cut back to the minimum of 30 hours a week. Not anymore though, we are now getting more crazy with the approaching holiday rush. Along with the holiday rush though means the Cast Holiday Celebration (CHC). CHC gives us an extra discount on merchandise and coupons for great deals on meals and treats throughout the park along with comp tickets. Don’t bother asking for the comp tickets though as they are already claimed by family members, sorry!

Chris is up for the weekend from Eckerd to visit his family so we got a chance to hang out at Pleasure Island last night thanks to my roommate who has a special ticket to get us in. For those that don’t remember, Chris is my roommate from last year at Eckerd. He is finishing his second major this semester and then will join the rest of us in the world of being an Eckerd College Alumni.

Hmm what else is new? Hmmm…Well, I called the Job Line (407-828-1000 for those interested) and found out that I need to wait till December to align a job for January but that it wouldn’t be an issue going full time. So that was a relief but now, I needed a place to stay. Enter in JK and Norm. One of their roommates moved out so I will have a space to move in to their place in January. Don’t you love friends? So I am all set to start a career at the Walt Disney World Company.

Well, time to get ready for work. I have an 8 hour shift as runner tonight so need to get some food and what not before heading to the Magic Kingdom.

Fall Has Come

Well, the temperature is finally dropping. As I type this entry, the temperature outside is roughly 64ºF. For Florida, that is the time to pull out the sweatshirt and pants. Work today was a nut-house as well. We had the usual after parade rush at 3:30 when Share a Dream Come True passed but the rush never stopped! I am so glad I was out of there at 7:30 tonight. Now I am just relaxing at home till a few friends get off of work and call me watching the new ABC Fall TGIF lineup. I have to say, I love the new show Complete Savages. Reminds me somewhat of Home Improvement, another classic ABC sitcom. Looks like ABC (read Disney) has finally started to do well again. Well, back to TGIF and e-mails.

Friends, Family, Good Times

Well, I know it has been a long time since I last updated this thing. What has been up with me? Well where do I start. Last Thursday, Brandon and I took a short get away day trip to Ft. DeSoto and Eckerd College for a day of relaxing in the sun and for me to visit some old friends. Met up with some of my old professors and friends including chilling with my roommate from last year, Chris before we met with Dean Annarelli to say hello. Got back up to WDW around 10 but opted not to go to Pleasure Island for cast night.

Now this weekend I haven’t had internet access since I have been staying in Disney’s Pop Century Resort with my brother Tim. Tim had a long weekend from Bowdoin College in Maine and he came down to visit me and go to a Pixies concert at Hard Rock Live here in Orlando. We went to Epcot Center on Saturday before I went to work for the evening and then on Sunday, we went to Property Control and Cast Connection before he went to his concert and I went to work.

Monday though, I had a day off and we went to the Magic Kingdom where we met up with some of my co-workers and more of my Eckerd Friends (Ian, Clare, Ann, and Laurel). Did the classic rides before going out to dinner at the Whispering Canyon and the WIlderness Lodge Resort for an all-you-can-eat meal. It is a great place to eat and it is filled with lots of crazy fun like horse races and dancing. After dinner, we went back to the Magic Kingdom to watch Spectromagic and Wishes, a magical gathering of Disney Dreams before calling it a night.

Now this brings us to this morning. Tim and I left Pop Century for the airport at 5 this morning and then I went back home to crash until noon. Brandon and I met up and are now at Mall at Millenia where I am writing this from the Apple Store on a new iMac. Well, time to run and head home for work.
