Goodbye Magic Kingdom
Effective Saturday, August 26, I will no longer be with Main Street Operations at the Magic Kingdom Park. I have been at Magic Kingdom Park since May 2004 in both merchandise and operations. After nearly two and a half years, I will be leaving the Magic Kingdom to accept a new role in Guest Relations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to my home away from home at Magic Kingdom but for those that know me, this is something I have been waiting for for over a year. Starting Sunday, August 27, I will be at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Stop on in and say hi.

New Beginnings
Well, after watching the finale of The West Wing and the end of the Bartlett Administration, I started thinking about the long journey I have had so far in my career. This coming week will mark my two year anniversary with the Walt Disney World Resort as well as my graduation from Eckerd College. I started as a merchandise host in the Emporium followed by Magic Kingdom Strollers. Then, I took the plunge in to operations with Main Street Ops where not only did I get to do Park Greeter but also Conductor and Engineer on the Walt Disney World Railroad.
Main Street Ops has also given a place to grow and strengthen my leadership skills as not only a trainer for new cast members in the area but also as an area coordinator/lead for our cast. As I posted a few weeks ago, I recently applied for Guest Relations. This would not only a promotion for me but also another beginning to what I hope will be a long career with the Walt Disney Company.
While I was planning on waiting a bit to post about the results of my interview until I had a final word on what was going on, many have e-mailed and asked and news has been leaking out around the Kingdom. I recieved official word on Friday that I am in the Guest Relations pool. Yes, I did get accepted to Guest Relations. I do not however know how long it will be before I am picked up and given an actual location. All four parks and Downtown Disney are fair game. As much as I have enjoyed working in the Magic Kingdom, I am looking forward to the possibility of working in another park.
So, here is to new beginnings.

I’m an Engineer
Well, it is official, I am an Engineer on the Walt Disney World Railroad! I completed my check out this past Tuesday and have been working a busy schedule the last few days with the holiday so this explains the delay in my post. I have also had a friend in town who was nice enough to take this picture in this post for me (thanks Brandon). Going in to this week, I have 55 hours scheduled but that may change. Mostly engineer but a few conductor shifts. I am so far loving the new responsibility and role as it gives me a better understanding of the operation and the ability to assist our guests in new ways. So stop on by for a “Grand Circle Tour around the Magic Kingdom” the next time you are in the park. Trains depart every seven minutes. All Aboard!

The Prince of Peace!
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the mighty god, the everlasting father, the prince of peace. May the joy and peace found at the manger be yours this christmas season and always.

All Aboard!
I know it’s been like forever since I posted last. I’m sorry my posts are lacking in length and frequency. Anywho, I have some news from the Magic Kingdom. Yours truly will be training to work on the steam trains starting next week. That’s right, I will be training as a conductor with the Walt Disney World Rail Road. So the next time you ride the train, you might be lucky enough to hear me yelling “All Aboard!” he he he. Not too much else to report. Candlelight has overnight practice this week as the shows start right after Thanksgiving. I can’t wait! My first show will be on December 2nd with Haley Joel Osment. Lots of hours at work this week and next then the family comes to visit. So till the next update, have a magical day!

T-Minus One Week
Only one week to go till Disneyland and the Happiest Homecoming on Earth! While it really isn’t a homecoming for me and the boys since none of us have ever been to Disneyland before, it still seems like one sine it it Walt’s park and as Cast Members, it is part of our heritage. I can’t wait. This time next week, I will be in California and watching Remember, Dreams Come True at Sleeping Beauty Castle.
